🔒 Local Secrets

🌊
Kaaimans River beach — Walk down from the Map of Africa viewpoint to this hidden beach where the old railway bridge spans the river gorge. Dramatic and rarely crowded.
🐦
Sunrise paddle — Hire a canoe at 06:30 and paddle the Touw River in the golden morning light. You'll see kingfishers, herons, and otters before the day-trippers arrive.
🚗
Dolphin Point — A viewpoint between Wilderness and George where you can often see dolphins surfing the waves below. Best in the morning from June to November.
Wilderness activities are gentle, natural, and immersive. This isn't an adrenaline destination (although paragliding is available) — it's a place to walk long beaches, paddle quiet rivers, watch birds, and soak in one of the Garden Route's most beautiful landscapes. The pace matches the village: unhurried and deeply restorative.
